Theoretically, combining Rauvolfia vomitoria with antiplatelet or anticoagulant drugs might have additive effects.
Rauvolfia vomitoria contains small amounts of yohimbine. Research in healthy adults shows that taking yohimbine in doses of 8 mg or more seems to inhibit platelet aggregation in vitro by binding to the alpha-2 adrenoceptor. The effects of Rauvolfia vomitoria itself are unclear.

Here's the gist for Pradaxa (dabigatran), which is a blood thinner that lowers your clotting ability to prevent strokes and dangerous clots. Rauvolfia vomitoria contains a small amount of yohimbine, and lab studies hint that yohimbine may make platelets a little less sticky. If that effect carries over in real life, stacking it on top of dabigatran could in theory add to your bleeding risk.

I'll be honest with you though: this concern is theoretical, based mostly on test-tube data, and the actual effect of the whole plant is unclear. Still, since dabigatran already thins your blood, it's worth watching for things like easy bruising, nosebleeds, bleeding gums, or unusually dark stools. Please check with your pharmacist or doctor before combining the two.

About Dabigatran

What Is Dabigatran Used For?

Brand names: Pradaxa, Pradax

Dabigatran etexilate capsules are approved for adults to reduce the risk of stroke and systemic embolism (blood clots traveling through the body) in non-valvular atrial fibrillation (an irregular heart rhythm not caused by a heart valve problem). Capsules are also used to treat deep vein thrombosis (DVT — a blood clot in a deep vein, usually the leg) and pulmonary embolism (PE — a clot in the lungs), to prevent those clots from coming back, and to prevent DVT and PE in adults who have had hip replacement surgery.

For children, the capsule form is approved for treating VTE (venous thromboembolism — blood clots in veins) and reducing recurrence in patients aged 8 to under 18. Pradaxa Oral Pellets are approved specifically for children aged 3 months to under 12 years for the same treatment and recurrence-prevention purposes.
