ANTICOAGULANT/ANTIPLATELET DRUGS
Why this applies to Aspirin, Aluminum Hydroxide, Codeine Phosphate, Magnesium Hydroxide
Aspirin, Aluminum Hydroxide, Codeine Phosphate, Magnesium Hydroxide falls under ANTICOAGULANT/ANTIPLATELET DRUGS — the group Tiratricol interacts with.
Tiratricol is related to thyroid hormones such as levothyroxine. The hypoprothrombinemic effects of oral anticoagulants, including warfarin (Coumadin), are increased by levothyroxine due to increased catabolism of vitamin K-dependent clotting factors. It is not known if tiratricol has a similar effect.
Interaction has been documented in animal or in lab research, or the interaction has been documented in humans but is limited to case reports or conflicting clinical research exists.
The piece of this combo product that matters here is the aspirin, which thins the blood and works against clotting. Tiratricol is a thyroid-like compound, and thyroid hormones can speed up how fast your body breaks down vitamin K dependent clotting factors. In theory, that could nudge aspirin's blood-thinning effect a little further, meaning slightly easier bruising, nosebleeds, or stomach bleeding.
I want to be straight with you though: this is a theoretical concern based on how these substances behave, not proven studies. And honestly, the bigger issue is tiratricol itself, which the FDA has warned against because it can trigger serious heart and thyroid problems. Please don't take it, and check with your pharmacist or doctor before mixing anything.
