Heparin falls under ANTICOAGULANT/ANTIPLATELET DRUGS — the group Tiratricol interacts with.

Theoretically, tiratricol might increase the hypoprothrombinemic effects of oral anticoagulants.
Tiratricol is related to thyroid hormones such as levothyroxine. The hypoprothrombinemic effects of oral anticoagulants, including warfarin (Coumadin), are increased by levothyroxine due to increased catabolism of vitamin K-dependent clotting factors. It is not known if tiratricol has a similar effect.

Here is the honest picture. Tiratricol acts a lot like thyroid hormone, and thyroid hormone can speed up how your body breaks down the clotting factors that depend on vitamin K. With a pill like warfarin, that can boost the blood-thinning effect. Heparin works differently, though. It thins your blood by activating antithrombin, not by touching those vitamin K clotting factors, so this particular mechanism doesn't line up neatly with heparin.

On top of that, this concern is theoretical, based on how these drugs work rather than on real cases. Still, tiratricol itself is a banned, risky substance, and any added bleeding (easy bruising, nosebleeds, blood in urine) while on heparin is serious. Please loop in your doctor or pharmacist before mixing them.

What Is Heparin Injection Used For?

Brand name: Heparin

Heparin Sodium Injection is used to prevent and treat venous thrombosis (blood clots in veins) and pulmonary embolism (clots in the lungs). It is also used to prevent blood clots after major abdominothoracic surgery, to manage atrial fibrillation with embolization (a heart rhythm problem that can cause clots), and to treat disseminated intravascular coagulation (DIC), a serious condition where the blood clots too much throughout the body.

Additional uses include preventing clotting during arterial and cardiac surgery, treating peripheral arterial embolism (clots in the arteries of the limbs), and serving as an anticoagulant during blood transfusions, dialysis, and procedures using extracorporeal circulation (machines that temporarily take over heart or lung function).
