Ibrutinib falls under ANTICOAGULANT/ANTIPLATELET DRUGS — the group Tiratricol interacts with.

Theoretically, tiratricol might increase the hypoprothrombinemic effects of oral anticoagulants.
Tiratricol is related to thyroid hormones such as levothyroxine. The hypoprothrombinemic effects of oral anticoagulants, including warfarin (Coumadin), are increased by levothyroxine due to increased catabolism of vitamin K-dependent clotting factors. It is not known if tiratricol has a similar effect.

Here's the thing to know about ibrutinib (Imbruvica): it isn't a traditional blood thinner, but it does raise your bleeding risk on its own. It can cause bruising, nosebleeds, and more serious bleeding in some people. The concern with tiratricol is that, because it acts like thyroid hormone, it might speed up the breakdown of your vitamin K-dependent clotting factors, which could nudge your bleeding risk even higher when stacked on top of ibrutinib.

I want to be honest that this is a theoretical concern based on how these substances behave, not something proven for tiratricol or ibrutinib specifically. Even so, tiratricol is a risky, FDA-warned ingredient I'd steer clear of. Please loop in your oncology team or pharmacist before mixing anything new with ibrutinib.

Tiratricol (also called TRIAC) is a powerful synthetic thyroid hormone metabolite, not a natural herb, and it has been illegally added to some weight-loss and bodybuilding supplements. It can cause serious heart and thyroid problems, and the U.S. FDA has warned consumers not to use products containing it. It is not a safe or approved dietary supplement, and you should avoid it.

About Ibrutinib

What Is Ibrutinib Used For?

Brand name: Imbruvica

Imbruvica (ibrutinib) is used in adults to treat chronic lymphocytic leukemia (CLL) and small lymphocytic lymphoma (SLL), including cases with a specific genetic change called 17p deletion. It is also used in adults to treat Waldenström's macroglobulinemia (WM), a rare type of slow-growing blood cancer.

Imbruvica is also approved for adults and children aged 1 year and older with chronic graft-versus-host disease (cGVHD) — a serious immune complication that can occur after a stem cell or bone marrow transplant — when at least one prior treatment has not worked.
