Insulin falls under ANTIDIABETES DRUGS — the group Tiratricol interacts with.

Theoretically, tiratricol might interfere with blood glucose control.
Tiratricol is related to thyroid hormones, such as levothyroxine, which can interfere with blood glucose control and necessitate adjustment of diabetes drug therapy. It is not known if tiratricol has these effects.

Here's the gist of it. Tiratricol acts like a thyroid hormone in your body, and thyroid hormones tend to speed up your metabolism. When metabolism revs up like that, it can push blood sugar higher and may make your usual insulin dose feel like it isn't doing enough. In plain terms, your insulin (such as NovoRapid) could become less predictable, leaving your numbers running higher than you'd expect.

I'll be honest with you though, this is a theoretical concern. We know real thyroid medicines can shift blood sugar, but we don't actually have proof tiratricol does the same. On top of that, tiratricol isn't a safe or approved supplement, and the FDA has warned people away from it. Please don't change your insulin on your own. If you've been using a product with tiratricol, talk with your doctor or pharmacist.

Tiratricol (also called TRIAC) is a powerful synthetic thyroid hormone metabolite, not a natural herb, and it has been illegally added to some weight-loss and bodybuilding supplements.
