Tiratricol and Insulin Human, Sodium Chloride

Here is the interaction we found between these two, with the evidence behind it.

Moderate

ANTIDIABETES DRUGS

Why this applies to Insulin Human, Sodium Chloride

Insulin Human, Sodium Chloride falls under ANTIDIABETES DRUGS — the group Tiratricol interacts with.

Theoretically, tiratricol might interfere with blood glucose control.
Tiratricol is related to thyroid hormones, such as levothyroxine, which can interfere with blood glucose control and necessitate adjustment of diabetes drug therapy. It is not known if tiratricol has these effects.
Severity Moderate Likelihood Possible Evidence D

Interaction has been documented in animal or in lab research, or the interaction has been documented in humans but is limited to case reports or conflicting clinical research exists.

Dr. Brian Staiger, PharmD, BCPS
Dr. Brian Staiger explains PharmD, Clinical Pharmacist

Here's the basic idea with tiratricol and your insulin. Tiratricol acts a lot like the active thyroid hormone T3, and thyroid hormones can nudge your blood sugar upward and change how much insulin your body needs. So in theory, adding tiratricol could make your insulin feel less effective, meaning your sugars might run higher than usual and you could need a different dose to stay in range.

I'll be straight with you though: this is a theoretical concern based on how the two work, not on solid studies showing it actually happens. The bigger issue is that tiratricol itself is an unapproved, risky ingredient the FDA warns against. Please don't change your insulin on your own. Talk with your doctor or pharmacist, especially before using any product containing tiratricol.

From our pharmacist’s overview on the Insulin Human, Sodium Chloride page

“The two entries to understand first for Myxredlin (human insulin in sodium chloride) are Siberian cocklebur, which has caused severe hypoglycemia in humans, and EDTA chelation products, which can drop blood glucose sharply and may interfere with the insulin itself. Those are the only major-rated interactions among the 242 ingredients o…”

About Tiratricol

What is Tiratricol?

  • Weight loss
  • Fat burning
  • Boosting metabolism
  • Bodybuilding and cutting
  • Thyroid-related supplementation

Tiratricol (also called TRIAC) is a powerful synthetic thyroid hormone metabolite, not a natural herb, and it has been illegally added to some weight-loss and bodybuilding supplements. It can cause serious heart and thyroid problems, and the U.S. FDA has warned consumers not to use products containing it. It is not a safe or approved dietary supplement, and you should avoid it.
