Tiratricol is related to thyroid hormones, such as levothyroxine, which can interfere with blood glucose control and necessitate adjustment of diabetes drug therapy. It is not known if tiratricol has these effects.

Here's the situation with Humalog (insulin lispro) and tiratricol. Tiratricol acts like the thyroid hormone T3, which tends to rev up your metabolism. Thyroid hormones can push blood sugar upward, so in theory tiratricol could make your blood sugar harder to control and might mean your usual mealtime insulin dose no longer keeps up. In plain terms, your numbers could run higher than expected.

I want to be honest about the evidence here: this is theoretical. It's based on how thyroid hormones behave, and we don't actually know if tiratricol does the same thing. Separately, tiratricol itself is not a safe or approved supplement, and the FDA has warned people away from it. Please loop in your doctor or pharmacist before mixing anything new with your insulin, and keep an eye on your readings.
