Dr. Brian Staiger explains PharmD, Clinical Pharmacist

Here's the thing to know about Avandamet (metformin plus rosiglitazone): it works to lower your blood sugar. Tiratricol acts like a strong thyroid hormone, and hormones in that family can shift how your body handles sugar, often pushing blood sugar levels around. The worry is that tiratricol could work against your diabetes medicine, making it harder to keep your numbers steady.

Honestly, this concern is theoretical. We know thyroid hormones can affect blood sugar, but nobody has proven tiratricol does the same thing. My bigger concern is tiratricol itself, since the FDA has warned it can cause serious heart and thyroid trouble. I'd steer clear of it and talk with your doctor or pharmacist before using any product containing it.

About Tiratricol

What is Tiratricol?

  • Weight loss
  • Fat burning
  • Boosting metabolism
  • Bodybuilding and cutting
  • Thyroid-related supplementation

Tiratricol (also called TRIAC) is a powerful synthetic thyroid hormone metabolite, not a natural herb, and it has been illegally added to some weight-loss and bodybuilding supplements. It can cause serious heart and thyroid problems, and the U.S. FDA has warned consumers not to use products containing it. It is not a safe or approved dietary supplement, and you should avoid it.
