Here's the simple version: the estrogen part of PMB (conjugated estrogens) can slow down how your body clears caffeine. Since yerba mate is loaded with caffeine, that caffeine can hang around longer and feel stronger than usual. So you might notice more jitteriness, a racing or pounding heart, trouble sleeping, anxiety, or an upset stomach, especially if you drink several cups a day.

This isn't a dangerous combination, just an uncomfortable one to watch for. The good news is it's easy to manage. If you feel wired or can't sleep, simply cut back on mate or switch to a decaf option later in the day. A cup now and then is unlikely to be a problem. If you're unsure, your pharmacist or doctor can help you find the right amount.

In vitro research shows that yerba mate extract inhibits CYP3A4 enzymes. Theoretically, taking yerba mate may increase levels and adverse effects of CYP3A4 substrates.

Here's the gist for your PMB tablet, which pairs conjugated estrogens with meprobamate (a calming, anti-anxiety ingredient). Lab studies suggest yerba mate can gently slow down a liver enzyme called CYP3A4 that helps clear the estrogen portion of this medicine. In theory, that could let estrogen levels drift a little higher, which might mean more of its usual effects like breast tenderness, bloating, nausea, or headache. Meprobamate isn't a prodrug here, so nothing flips backward.

Honestly, this one is very theoretical. It's based only on test-tube research, and a cup or two of mate likely won't matter much. If you drink mate often or take concentrated extracts, just mention it to your pharmacist or doctor so they can keep an eye on things.
