Maprotiline falls under CYTOCHROME P450 2D6 (CYP2D6) SUBSTRATES — the group 1,3-dmba interacts with.

Theoretically, 1,3-DMBA might modestly increase the levels of CYP2D6 substrates.
In vitro research shows that 1,3-DMBA weakly inhibits CYP2D6 enzymes.

Here's the short version: your body uses an enzyme called CYP2D6 to help clear maprotiline out of your system. Lab studies suggest 1,3-DMBA might weakly block that enzyme, which in theory could let a bit more maprotiline build up. If that happened, you might notice more of this drug's usual side effects, like drowsiness, dry mouth, constipation, blurry vision, or a faster heartbeat.

I want to be honest about how weak this evidence is. It comes only from test-tube research, the effect is described as modest, and it's rated minor. My bigger concern is the 1,3-DMBA itself, which is a banned, unsafe stimulant that can raise blood pressure and stress the heart. Please skip products containing it, and check with your pharmacist or doctor first.

Maprotiline is in a class of medications called tetracyclic antidepressants. It works by increasing the amounts of certain natural substances in the brain that are needed to maintain mental balance.
