Disopyramide Phosphate falls under CYTOCHROME P450 3A4 (CYP3A4) SUBSTRATES — the group Chanca Piedra interacts with.

Theoretically, use of chanca piedra might increase the levels and clinical effects of CYP3A4 substrates.
In vitro research shows that chanca piedra extract inhibits CYP3A4. Theoretically, chanca piedra might increase the levels of CYP3A4 substrates. This interaction has not been reported in humans.

Here's the gist for Norpace (disopyramide). Your liver uses an enzyme called CYP3A4 to clear this medication out of your system. Lab studies suggest chanca piedra may slow that enzyme down. In theory, that could let disopyramide build up a bit higher than usual, and since this is a heart-rhythm drug with a fairly narrow safety window, even small changes are worth respecting.

If levels climbed, you might notice more of disopyramide's typical effects, like dry mouth, blurred vision, trouble urinating, constipation, or, more importantly, changes in your heart rhythm. I want to be honest though: this is only seen in test-tube research, not in real people, so it's theoretical. Please don't stop or change anything on your own. Just give your pharmacist or doctor a heads-up before combining them.

About Disopyramide

What Is Disopyramide Used For?

Brand names: Norpace CR, Norpace

Disopyramide — available as Disopyramide Phosphate, Norpace, and Norpace CR — is indicated for the treatment of documented ventricular arrhythmias, such as sustained ventricular tachycardia (a fast, dangerous heart rhythm), that a physician judges to be life-threatening.

Because this drug can itself cause arrhythmias, it is not recommended for minor or symptom-free arrhythmias. Treatment is started in a hospital setting so the heart can be closely monitored. Antiarrhythmic drugs like disopyramide have not been shown to improve survival in patients with ventricular arrhythmias.
