Chanca Piedra + Furosemide
Furosemide brand name: Lasix.
Furosemide falls into 2 drug categories that Chanca Piedra can interact with; the most serious is rated moderate. Theoretically, concomitant use of chanca piedra with diuretics might increase diuresis.

These two interact in 2 distinct ways. Each one is explained separately below.
Why Are There 2 Interactions?
Chanca Piedra interacts with whole categories of medication. Furosemide falls into 2 of those categories, so it can interact with Chanca Piedra in 2 different ways. We’ve listed each one below — your overall risk is driven by the most serious of them (Moderate).
DIURETIC DRUGS
1 of 2Why this applies to Furosemide
Furosemide falls under DIURETIC DRUGS — the group Chanca Piedra interacts with.
Some preliminary clinical research in adults with hypertension shows that chanca piedra has diuretic properties. However, higher quality research in adults with kidney stones shows taking chanca piedra does not increase urine volume when compared with placebo. Until more is known, use cautiously in patients taking diuretic drugs.
Interaction has been documented in animal or in lab research, or the interaction has been documented in humans but is limited to case reports or conflicting clinical research exists.
Here's the simple version: chanca piedra has a reputation as a mild 'water pill' in its own right. Furosemide (Lasix) is already a strong diuretic, so the worry is that stacking the two could add up and make you urinate even more than intended.
If that happened, you might notice things like dizziness, lightheadedness when standing, dehydration, or low potassium (muscle cramps, weakness, an irregular heartbeat). I want to be honest, though: this concern is theoretical, based mostly on how the herb behaves. The better human studies actually didn't show a big jump in urine output. So I wouldn't panic, but I would loop in your pharmacist or doctor before combining them, especially if you already feel drained on your dose.

ANTIHYPERTENSIVE DRUGS
2 of 2Furosemide also falls under ANTIHYPERTENSIVE DRUGS.
Animal research suggests that chanca piedra can decrease blood pressure. However, this effect was not observed in most hypertensive patients treated with chanca piedra for 10 days.
Interaction has been demonstrated in animal or in lab research but has been shown not to occur in humans..
Here's the gist with chanca piedra and furosemide (Lasix). Furosemide already works to lower blood pressure and pull off extra fluid. Chanca piedra might nudge blood pressure down a little on its own, so in theory the two together could add up and drop your pressure a touch more than expected.
Honestly though, this is a weak, mostly theoretical concern. The blood-pressure-lowering effect showed up in animal studies, and most people taking it for about 10 days didn't see that drop. If you do use both, just keep an eye out for things like dizziness, lightheadedness when you stand, or feeling unusually drained. Run it by your pharmacist or doctor first, especially since furosemide already affects your fluids and electrolytes.

From our pharmacist’s overview on the Furosemide page
“Yellow dock is where I would start with furosemide (Lasix). This water pill already flushes potassium, and heavy yellow dock use can compound that loss, one of nine major-rated interactions on a list of 227 that deserves genuine care.”

About Chanca Piedra
What is Chanca Piedra?
- Kidney stones
- Gallstones
- Liver support
- Urinary tract health
- Digestive complaints
Chanca piedra is a tropical herb traditionally used as a 'stone breaker' for kidney and gallstones, and for liver and urinary health. Human evidence for these uses is limited and mostly small or preliminary, so it should not replace proven treatments. Talk with your pharmacist or doctor before using it, especially if you have a medical condition or take medications.
About Furosemide
What Is Furosemide Used For?
Brand name: Lasix
Furosemide tablets and oral solution are used in adults and children to treat edema (fluid buildup) caused by congestive heart failure, cirrhosis of the liver, and kidney disease, including nephrotic syndrome. In adults, oral furosemide is also used to treat high blood pressure, alone or alongside other blood pressure medications.
Furosemide injection is reserved for patients who cannot take oral medicine or for emergency situations such as acute pulmonary edema (sudden dangerous fluid in the lungs). Furoscix (subcutaneous injection) is specifically indicated for edema in adults with chronic heart failure or chronic kidney disease, including nephrotic syndrome, and in pediatric patients weighing at least 43 kg. Lasix Onyu (subcutaneous injection) is indicated for edema in adults with chronic heart failure only.
