These two interact in 2 distinct ways. Each one is explained separately below.
Why Are There 2 Interactions?
Chanca Piedra interacts with whole categories of medication. Urea falls into 2 of those categories, so it can interact with Chanca Piedra in 2 different ways. We’ve listed each one below — your overall risk is driven by the most serious of them (Moderate).
DIURETIC DRUGS
1 of 2Why this applies to Urea
Urea falls under DIURETIC DRUGS — the group Chanca Piedra interacts with.
Some preliminary clinical research in adults with hypertension shows that chanca piedra has diuretic properties. However, higher quality research in adults with kidney stones shows taking chanca piedra does not increase urine volume when compared with placebo. Until more is known, use cautiously in patients taking diuretic drugs.
Interaction has been documented in animal or in lab research, or the interaction has been documented in humans but is limited to case reports or conflicting clinical research exists.
Here's the simple version for you. Urea (Ureaphil) is what we call an osmotic diuretic. It pulls extra water into your bloodstream and out through your kidneys, so you make more urine. Chanca piedra has been studied as a mild 'water pill' too, though the evidence is shaky. One small blood pressure study hinted it might increase urine output, but a better study in people with kidney stones found it did not. So this is a theoretical concern, not something firmly proven.
The idea is that stacking the two could add up and make you lose more fluid than expected. That can leave you dehydrated, dizzy, lightheaded, or throw off your sodium and potassium. Since Urea is usually given in a hospital setting for specific reasons, please loop in your doctor or pharmacist before adding chanca piedra.

ANTIHYPERTENSIVE DRUGS
2 of 2Urea also falls under ANTIHYPERTENSIVE DRUGS.
Animal research suggests that chanca piedra can decrease blood pressure. However, this effect was not observed in most hypertensive patients treated with chanca piedra for 10 days.
Interaction has been demonstrated in animal or in lab research but has been shown not to occur in humans..
Here's the honest picture with chanca piedra and urea. The interaction we have on file is really about chanca piedra's possible ability to nudge blood pressure down a little, which gets grouped with blood pressure medicines. Urea (Ureaphil) isn't truly a blood pressure drug, though. It's used as an osmotic agent, usually to pull excess fluid out and reduce pressure in the brain or eyes, or in some skin and nail products. So this particular concern doesn't map neatly onto how urea actually works.
On top of that, the evidence here is theoretical, drawn from animal studies, and most people taking chanca piedra for 10 days didn't show a real blood pressure drop. So I wouldn't lose sleep over it. Still, it's always smart to run your full supplement and medication list past your pharmacist or doctor.

From our pharmacist’s overview on the Urea page
“Urea (Ureaphil) is an osmotic diuretic, a drug that pulls fluid out of the body to relieve pressure inside the skull or the eye. Because it works by shifting fluid and blood pressure, this is a list to read with genuine care.”

About Chanca Piedra
What is Chanca Piedra?
- Kidney stones
- Gallstones
- Liver support
- Urinary tract health
- Digestive complaints
Chanca piedra is a tropical herb traditionally used as a 'stone breaker' for kidney and gallstones, and for liver and urinary health. Human evidence for these uses is limited and mostly small or preliminary, so it should not replace proven treatments. Talk with your pharmacist or doctor before using it, especially if you have a medical condition or take medications.
