The concern here isn't about coffee changing how your body breaks down the drug. Instead, it's about the caffeine in coffee possibly nudging your blood sugar itself. Reports are mixed: caffeine has been linked to both small rises and small dips in blood sugar in different people, so it can work against the steady control your medication is aiming for.

Honestly, this is a minor and unlikely interaction, based on fairly weak evidence, so your usual cup or two probably won't cause trouble. If you drink a lot of coffee or notice your numbers bouncing around, mention it to your pharmacist or doctor rather than changing anything yourself.
