Treprostinil (IV) falls under ANTICOAGULANT/ANTIPLATELET DRUGS — the group Coffee interacts with.

Theoretically, coffee may increase the risk of bleeding if used with anticoagulant or antiplatelet drugs.
Coffee contains caffeine. Caffeine is reported to have antiplatelet activity. Theoretically, the caffeine in coffee might increase the risk of bleeding when used concomitantly with these agents. However, this interaction has not been reported in humans. There is some evidence that caffeinated coffee might increase the fibrinolytic activity in blood.

Here's the basic idea: treprostinil (Remodulin) keeps blood vessels open and also makes platelets a little less sticky, which can slightly raise bleeding risk on its own. The caffeine in coffee has been shown in lab studies to have its own mild anti-clotting effect. Put the two together and, in theory, you might see a touch more bleeding tendency, like easier bruising or a nosebleed that takes longer to stop.

The honest part: this is theoretical only, based on test-tube and animal data, and it has not actually been reported in people. A normal cup or two of coffee is very unlikely to cause trouble. Since treprostinil is a serious medication, just mention your coffee habit to your doctor or pharmacist and let them know if you notice any unusual bleeding.

What Is Treprostinil Injection Used For?

Brand name: Remodulin

Treprostinil injection is used to treat pulmonary arterial hypertension (PAH, WHO Group 1) — high blood pressure in the arteries that supply the lungs. It works to reduce the symptoms that make exercise difficult. Clinical studies included patients with moderate-to-severe PAH symptoms (NYHA Class II–IV) due to idiopathic or heritable PAH, PAH related to congenital heart defects, and PAH related to connective tissue diseases.

It is also used for PAH patients who need to transition off epoprostenol — a related medication — to slow the worsening of their condition during that switch. The risks and benefits of the transition should be carefully discussed with a specialist before starting.
