Cola nut contains caffeine. Quinolones (also called fluoroquinolones) can decrease caffeine clearance by inhibiting cytochrome P450 1A2 (CYP1A2).

Here's the thing to know about pairing cola nut with Trovafloxacin: it's really the caffeine in the cola nut that gets affected, not the antibiotic itself. Trovafloxacin (like other fluoroquinolones) can slow down the liver enzyme called CYP1A2, which is the main pathway your body uses to clear caffeine. When that pathway is slowed, the caffeine hangs around longer and builds up.

In plain terms, your usual cola nut could hit harder than expected. You might feel jittery, have a racing or pounding heart, trouble sleeping, or feel anxious. This is considered probable but moderate, and food-level amounts matter less than concentrated supplement doses. If you take Trovafloxacin and use cola nut, just check with your pharmacist or doctor first.
