Here's the thing to keep in mind: this interaction runs the other way from what you might expect. It's not that cola nut changes how well Ella works at preventing pregnancy. Instead, the concern is that birth control hormones can slow down how fast your body clears caffeine, which is the main active ingredient in cola nut. So the caffeine can hang around longer and hit you a bit harder.

In real life, that might mean feeling more jittery, a racing heart, trouble sleeping, or a mild bump in blood pressure if you have a cola nut supplement around the same time. The good news is Ella is usually a one-time dose, so this is short-lived and minor. Still, if you're sensitive to caffeine, go easy. Any questions, your pharmacist is happy to help.
