Lansoprazole falls under CYTOCHROME P450 2C19 (CYP2C19) SUBSTRATES — the group Lentinan interacts with.

Laboratory research suggests that lentinan might increase the activity of cytochrome P450 2C19 (CYP2C19). So far, this interaction has not been reported in humans. However, watch for a decrease in the levels of drugs metabolized by CYP2C19 in patients taking lentinan.
Some drugs metabolized by CYP2C19 include proton pump inhibitors including omeprazole (Prilosec), lansoprazole (Prevacid), and pantoprazole (Protonix); diazepam (Valium); carisoprodol (Soma); nelfinavir (Viracept); and others.

Here's the gist: your body uses a liver enzyme called CYP2C19 to clear lansoprazole. Lab research hints that lentinan might rev that enzyme up a bit. If that happened in real people, your body could break down lansoprazole faster, leaving less of it around to do its job. The practical worry is weaker acid control, so heartburn, reflux, or stomach discomfort might creep back, or an ulcer might heal more slowly.

I want to be honest about the strength of this, though. This is only test-tube and animal data, and it has never actually been reported in humans, so it may not matter at all in everyday life. Still, if you take lentinan and notice your reflux symptoms returning, mention it to your pharmacist or doctor before changing anything.

Laboratory research suggests that lentinan might increase the activity of cytochrome P450 3A4 (CYP3A4). So far, this interaction has not been reported in humans. However, watch for a decrease in the levels of drugs metabolized by CYP3A4 in patients taking lentinan.
Some drugs metabolized by CYP3A4 include lovastatin (Mevacor), ketoconazole (Nizoral), itraconazole (Sporanox), fexofenadine (Allegra), triazolam (Halcion), and numerous others.

Here's the gist for your Prevacid: your liver uses an enzyme called CYP3A4 to help break down lansoprazole. Lab studies hint that lentinan from shiitake mushrooms might speed up that enzyme a bit. If that happened in real life, your body could clear lansoprazole a little faster, which could mean less acid control and the return of symptoms like heartburn, reflux, or stomach discomfort.

I want to be honest with you, though: this is only seen in test-tube and animal research, and it has not been reported in actual people. So it's more of a theoretical concern than a proven problem. Lansoprazole is also partly handled by another enzyme (CYP2C19), which softens any effect. If you notice your reflux creeping back after starting lentinan, just check in with your pharmacist or doctor.

What Is Lansoprazole Used For?

Brand name: Prevacid

Lansoprazole is prescribed for a range of conditions where excess stomach acid is the problem. It treats active stomach and duodenal ulcers (sores in the stomach or upper small intestine), helps heal ulcers caused by NSAID pain relievers, and can reduce the risk of those ulcers coming back.

It's also used for gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD), erosive esophagitis (acid damage to the esophagus), and rare conditions where the stomach makes far too much acid — like Zollinger-Ellison syndrome. When combined with antibiotics, it helps wipe out H. pylori bacteria that cause recurring ulcers.
