Buproprion, Dextromethorphan falls under CYTOCHROME P450 2D6 (CYP2D6) SUBSTRATES — the group Rauvolfia Vomitoria interacts with.

Theoretically, Rauvolfia vomitoria might increase the levels and clinical effects of CYP2D6 substrates.
Rauvolfia vomitoria contains small amounts of the drug yohimbine. In vitro research shows that yohimbine inhibits CYP2D6 enzyme activity.

Here's the thing with Auvelity, which combines bupropion and dextromethorphan. The bupropion part is actually there to block an enzyme called CYP2D6 on purpose, so that the dextromethorphan sticks around longer and can do its job in the brain. Rauvolfia vomitoria contains a bit of yohimbine, and lab studies suggest yohimbine can also slow down that same CYP2D6 enzyme.

So in theory, layering this herb on top could nudge dextromethorphan levels even higher, which might mean more dizziness, drowsiness, nausea, or feeling spacey. I'll be honest though, this is based only on test-tube research, so it's a soft signal, not a proven problem. Rauvolfia also strongly affects blood pressure and mood on its own, so please run it by your pharmacist or doctor before combining.
