Oliceridine falls under CYTOCHROME P450 2D6 (CYP2D6) SUBSTRATES — the group Rauvolfia Vomitoria interacts with.

Theoretically, Rauvolfia vomitoria might increase the levels and clinical effects of CYP2D6 substrates.
Rauvolfia vomitoria contains small amounts of the drug yohimbine. In vitro research shows that yohimbine inhibits CYP2D6 enzyme activity.

Here's the gist with these two together. Oliceridine (Olinvyk) is a strong IV opioid painkiller, and your body relies partly on an enzyme called CYP2D6 to clear it. Rauvolfia vomitoria contains a small amount of yohimbine, which in lab studies can slow that enzyme down. If CYP2D6 is blocked, oliceridine could build up a bit more than expected, which may mean stronger opioid effects like deeper drowsiness, slowed or shallow breathing, low blood pressure, nausea, or confusion.

I want to be honest about the evidence though. This is only a theoretical concern from test-tube research, not real patient data, so the actual risk is uncertain. Still, since oliceridine is a serious opioid given in hospitals, please let your care team know about any rauvolfia use so they can watch you closely.

What Is Oliceridine Injection Used For?

Brand name: Olinvyk

Olinvyk (oliceridine) injection is approved for adults to manage acute pain that is severe enough to require an intravenous opioid analgesic. It is used only when alternative treatments are ineffective, not tolerated, or otherwise unable to provide adequate pain control.

Because of serious risks including addiction, misuse, overdose, and death, Olinvyk is reserved for situations where other pain management options are not sufficient. It is not intended for routine or chronic pain management.
