Metformin, Sitagliptin falls under ANTIDIABETES DRUGS — the group Tiratricol interacts with.

Theoretically, tiratricol might interfere with blood glucose control.
Tiratricol is related to thyroid hormones, such as levothyroxine, which can interfere with blood glucose control and necessitate adjustment of diabetes drug therapy. It is not known if tiratricol has these effects.

Here's the thing to know about Janumet, which combines metformin and sitagliptin to lower blood sugar. The concern with tiratricol is mostly a theoretical one based on how it behaves. Because tiratricol acts like thyroid hormone (T3), and thyroid hormones can nudge your blood sugar upward and change how much insulin your body needs, it could, in theory, work against your diabetes medicine and make your numbers harder to control.

We don't have solid studies showing tiratricol actually does this, so I don't want to scare you. The bigger issue is that tiratricol itself isn't a safe or approved supplement, and the FDA has warned against it. If you've been using a product that may contain it, please loop in your pharmacist or doctor, especially if you notice unusual high blood sugar readings.
