What’s inside
Full disclosure
This softgel contains three active ingredients: phosphatidylcholine, phosphatidylserine, and phosphatidylethanolamine. Phosphatidylserine is a phospholipid (a type of fat molecule) that plays a role in cell membranes and is thought to support brain function.
Phosphatidylcholine is another phospholipid involved in cell structure and has been studied for liver and digestive health. The product also contains inactive ingredients (gelatin, glycerin, polyglycitol syrup, and purified water) that serve as the capsule shell and base.
Does it work?
Moderate evidence
Phosphatidylserine has possibly effective evidence for age-related cognitive decline and Alzheimer disease, meaning some research supports its use but more studies are needed. The evidence is insufficient to rate its use for athletic performance, ADHD, general cognitive function, or dementia.
Phosphatidylcholine shows possibly effective evidence for ulcerative colitis but insufficient evidence for Alzheimer disease, anxiety, liver disease, and alcohol-related liver disease. We hold no effectiveness data for phosphatidylethanolamine.
How safe is it?
Well-documented data
Phosphatidylserine is generally well tolerated, though long-term safety isn't fully established. The safety data advises against use during pregnancy and while breastfeeding.
Common side effects from oral use include flatulence, gastrointestinal upset, headache, insomnia (especially at higher doses), and nausea. Phosphatidylcholine is generally well tolerated at normal doses but can cause digestive upset, altered taste, bloating, nausea, and sweating at very high doses (30 grams per day).
For pregnancy and breastfeeding, choline (from phosphatidylcholine) is needed during these times, but supplement safety beyond food sources isn't well studied—talk with your doctor or pharmacist. Data on phosphatidylethanolamine safety isn't on file.
Meds to double-check
Moderate interaction found
Before taking this product, double-check if you use anticholinergic drugs or cholinergic drugs—both have Moderate severity interaction concerns with phosphatidylserine. Your pharmacist can confirm whether any of your medications fall into these categories.
The bottom line
Scorecard at a glanceFully disclosed formula with some supporting evidence for its stated purpose. Moderate medication interactions have been identified, and safety information is well characterized.
This product may help with age-related cognitive decline or early Alzheimer disease, though the evidence is modest. If you take anticholinergic or cholinergic medications, check with your pharmacist first.
Pregnant or breastfeeding individuals should speak with their doctor before starting. Most people tolerate it without trouble, but some experience mild digestive or sleep issues.

Smart PS Phosphatidylserine by Vinco Drug Interactions
HelloPharmacist Interaction Report
Smart PS Phosphatidylserine by Vinco contains phosphatidylserine, which has documented interactions with two medication types.
The main concern is with anticholinergic drugs (used for conditions like overactive bladder, certain types of nausea, and some movement disorders)—phosphatidylserine may theoretically decrease how well they work by raising acetylcholine levels in your body, a Moderate severity interaction.
Read the full breakdown — every affected drug type, severity by severity
The second is cholinergic drugs (medications that boost acetylcholine, sometimes used in Alzheimer's disease or myasthenia gravis)—phosphatidylserine could theoretically add to their effects, also a Moderate severity concern. Altogether, these interactions span 218 individual medications.
Phosphatidylcholine, the second active ingredient, shows no documented interactions in our data. We could not check phosphatidylethanolamine because we hold no data for it.
If you take any anticholinergic or cholinergic medication, run it through the interaction checker below before starting this product.
