Indapamide falls under DIURETIC DRUGS — the group Chanca Piedra interacts with.

Theoretically, concomitant use of chanca piedra with diuretics might increase diuresis.
Some preliminary clinical research in adults with hypertension shows that chanca piedra has diuretic properties. However, higher quality research in adults with kidney stones shows taking chanca piedra does not increase urine volume when compared with placebo. Until more is known, use cautiously in patients taking diuretic drugs.

Here's the gist with indapamide and chanca piedra: this herb has been studied as a mild 'water pill' in its own right. So the worry is that the two together could nudge your body to lose a little more fluid and salt than indapamide alone. In theory, that might leave you feeling lightheaded, dizzy when you stand up, more thirsty, or low on potassium and sodium.

I'd keep this in perspective, though. The evidence here is mostly theoretical, and one decent study in people with kidney stones actually found chanca piedra did not boost urine output versus placebo. So it's a 'use cautiously' situation, not a red alert. If you do try it, watch for dizziness or cramping, and check with your pharmacist or doctor first.

Animal research suggests that chanca piedra can decrease blood pressure. However, this effect was not observed in most hypertensive patients treated with chanca piedra for 10 days.

Here's the simple version: indapamide is a water pill that lowers blood pressure by helping your body get rid of extra salt and fluid. Chanca piedra might nudge blood pressure down a little on its own, so in theory the two together could add up and lower your pressure more than expected.

I want to be honest about how shaky this is. The idea comes mostly from animal studies, and when people with high blood pressure actually took chanca piedra for about 10 days, most didn't see this effect. So we're labeling it theoretical and unlikely. If you do try both, just watch for signs your pressure dropped too far, like dizziness, lightheadedness when standing, or feeling unusually tired. Check with your pharmacist or doctor before adding it.

What Is Indapamide Used For?

Brand names: Lozol, Lozide

Indapamide tablets are used to treat high blood pressure (hypertension), either on their own or together with other blood pressure medications. Lowering blood pressure helps reduce the risk of related complications.

Indapamide tablets are also used to treat salt and fluid retention (edema) associated with congestive heart failure. In certain cases, indapamide may also be appropriate during pregnancy when swelling is caused by a medical condition rather than normal pregnancy changes — but routine use in otherwise healthy pregnant women is not recommended.
