Nintedanib Esylate falls under ANTICOAGULANT/ANTIPLATELET DRUGS — the group Coffee interacts with.

Theoretically, coffee may increase the risk of bleeding if used with anticoagulant or antiplatelet drugs.
Coffee contains caffeine. Caffeine is reported to have antiplatelet activity. Theoretically, the caffeine in coffee might increase the risk of bleeding when used concomitantly with these agents. However, this interaction has not been reported in humans. There is some evidence that caffeinated coffee might increase the fibrinolytic activity in blood.

Here's the gist with Ofev (nintedanib) and your morning coffee. Nintedanib already carries a small bleeding risk on its own, and lab studies suggest the caffeine in coffee may have a mild blood-thinning, anti-platelet effect. Put together, the theory is that coffee could nudge your bleeding risk up a little.

That said, I want to be honest about the evidence: this is based on test-tube and animal research, and it has not actually been seen happening in people. Everyday cups of coffee are very unlikely to cause a problem. Just stay alert for unusual bruising, nosebleeds, bleeding gums, or blood in your stool, since nintedanib can cause those anyway. If you notice anything like that, or you take other blood thinners, check in with your pharmacist or doctor.

About Nintedanib

What Is Nintedanib Used For?

Brand name: Ofev

Nintedanib capsules are approved for adults with idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis (IPF) — a chronic, progressive scarring of the lungs — and for adults with chronic fibrosing interstitial lung diseases (ILDs) with a progressive phenotype, meaning fibrosing lung diseases that continue to worsen over time despite treatment.

Nintedanib capsules (including Ofev) are also indicated to slow the rate of decline in lung function in adults with systemic sclerosis-associated interstitial lung disease (SSc-ILD), a lung complication of the autoimmune condition systemic sclerosis (scleroderma). Note that the Nintedanib esylate capsule product is approved for IPF and chronic fibrosing ILDs with a progressive phenotype, but SSc-ILD approval is carried by Ofev and other nintedanib capsule products — always confirm with your prescriber which product you have been prescribed.
