Here's the short version: drinking coffee while taking Kombiglyze (saxagliptin plus extended-release metformin) is considered a minor concern, and it's unlikely to cause real trouble for most people. The idea is that the caffeine in coffee can nudge your blood sugar around. Some reports suggest caffeine may raise blood sugar a little, while others suggest it can lower it, so the direction isn't clear-cut. This is mostly theoretical, based on lower-quality studies, so I wouldn't lose sleep over your morning cup.

What I'd watch for is feeling shaky, sweaty, or unusually jittery, since it can be hard to tell caffeine jitters from a low blood sugar reaction. If you drink a lot of coffee or notice odd readings on your meter, mention it to your pharmacist or doctor rather than changing anything on your own.
