Theoretically, cola nut might reduce the effects of phenobarbital and increase the risk for convulsions.
Cola nut contains caffeine. Animal research suggests that caffeine can decrease the anticonvulsant activity of phenobarbital. However, this effect has not been reported in humans.

Your medicine pairs phenobarbital (a barbiturate that calms the nervous system and helps prevent seizures) with belladonna. Cola nut is basically a natural source of caffeine, which is a stimulant. So in a way, these two pull in opposite directions: the caffeine winds the brain up while phenobarbital is trying to settle it down.

The concern on file is mostly theoretical. In animal studies, caffeine seemed to weaken phenobarbital's seizure-protecting effect, which could in theory raise the chance of a seizure (convulsion). This has not actually been shown in people, so I don't want to alarm you. Still, a regular coffee or soda is one thing, but concentrated cola nut supplements deliver a bigger caffeine punch. Before adding it, please check with your pharmacist or doctor.
