Aldoclor combines two blood pressure medicines: chlorothiazide (a water pill) and methyldopa. Methyldopa is one of the few blood pressure drugs that can, rarely, irritate the liver and cause raised liver enzymes or, very rarely, hepatitis. The concern here is that ephedra has been tied to a number of real-world cases of liver injury too. Put them together and the worry is that any stress on the liver could add up.

This is a theoretical concern based on how these substances behave, not something proven for this exact pairing. Still, ephedra is banned in U.S. supplements for good reason, and it can also raise your blood pressure, which works against what Aldoclor is trying to do. Please skip ephedra and ask your pharmacist about safe options.
