Insulin Degludec falls under ANTIDIABETES DRUGS — the group Ephedra interacts with.

Theoretically, taking ephedra with antidiabetes drugs might interfere with blood glucose control.
One study in animals shows that some components of ephedra may lower blood glucose levels. However, most human research suggests that ephedra and ephedrine, a component of ephedra, can raise blood glucose levels and might decrease the effectiveness of drug therapy. Monitor blood glucose concentrations closely.

Tresiba (insulin degludec) is your long-acting background insulin, the one that keeps blood sugar steady all day. The concern with ephedra is that its stimulants, mainly ephedrine, tend to push blood sugar up. That can work against your insulin and make it harder to keep your numbers in range, so you might see higher readings even on your usual dose.

Most human studies point this direction, though the evidence is moderate and a bit mixed (one animal study actually showed lower sugar). Honestly, the bigger worry is that ephedra is banned in U.S. supplements because it raises blood pressure and stroke risk. Please don't start it. If you have it or want a safe alternative, talk with your pharmacist or doctor first.

What Is Insulin Degludec (rDNA Origin) Injection Used For?

Brand name: Tresiba

Insulin degludec (brands: Insulin Degludec, Tresiba) is indicated to improve glycemic control (blood sugar management) in patients 1 year of age and older with diabetes mellitus — both type 1 and type 2.

It is not recommended for treating diabetic ketoacidosis (a dangerous complication where acids build up in the blood). In patients with type 1 diabetes, it must be used together with a short-acting insulin.
