Here is the interaction we found between these two, with the evidence behind it.

ANTIHYPERTENSIVE DRUGS

Why this applies to Sitaxsentan sodium

Sitaxsentan sodium falls under ANTIHYPERTENSIVE DRUGS — the group Green Coffee interacts with.

Theoretically, taking green coffee with antihypertensive drugs might increase the risk of hypotension.
Clinical studies have shown that green coffee extract decreases blood pressure. When used with antihypertensive drugs, green coffee might have additive blood pressure-lowering effects. However, this has not been shown in clinical research.
Severity Minor Likelihood Possible Evidence B

Interaction has been documented in animal or in lab research, or the interaction has been documented in humans but is limited to case reports or conflicting clinical research exists.

Dr. Brian Staiger, PharmD, BCPS
Dr. Brian Staiger explains PharmD, Clinical Pharmacist

Here's the simple version: green coffee has been shown in some studies to nudge blood pressure down a little, mostly thanks to its chlorogenic acid. Sitaxsentan (Thelin) is used for pulmonary arterial hypertension, and it can also lower blood pressure as part of how it works. Stack the two together and you could, in theory, get a bit more blood pressure lowering than expected.

If that happens, you might feel lightheaded, dizzy, tired, or like you could faint, especially when standing up quickly. The good news is this is rated as a minor, mostly theoretical concern, and it hasn't actually been proven in studies. Keep in mind green coffee also has caffeine, which can do the opposite for some people. Before adding a green coffee supplement, just run it by your pharmacist or doctor.

About Green Coffee

What is Green Coffee?

Green Coffee
  • Weight loss
  • High blood pressure
  • Blood sugar control
  • Antioxidant support
  • General energy

Green coffee is the unroasted bean of the coffee plant, prized for its high chlorogenic acid content. Some early studies suggest modest benefits for weight, blood pressure, and blood sugar, but the evidence is limited and far from conclusive. It contains caffeine, so people sensitive to stimulants should use caution and check with a pharmacist or doctor first.
