Rabeprazole Sodium falls under CYTOCHROME P450 2C19 (CYP2C19) SUBSTRATES — the group Lentinan interacts with.

Laboratory research suggests that lentinan might increase the activity of cytochrome P450 2C19 (CYP2C19). So far, this interaction has not been reported in humans. However, watch for a decrease in the levels of drugs metabolized by CYP2C19 in patients taking lentinan.
Some drugs metabolized by CYP2C19 include proton pump inhibitors including omeprazole (Prilosec), lansoprazole (Prevacid), and pantoprazole (Protonix); diazepam (Valium); carisoprodol (Soma); nelfinavir (Viracept); and others.

Here's the gist: your body uses a liver enzyme called CYP2C19 to break down rabeprazole (Aciphex). Lab studies hint that lentinan might speed up that enzyme. If that happened in people, your body could clear rabeprazole a little faster, which might mean lower levels and a weaker effect on your stomach acid. In plain terms, you could notice heartburn or reflux symptoms creeping back, or slower healing of the esophagus.

The reassuring part: this is only seen in test-tube and animal research, not in actual patients, so it's theoretical at this point. Still, if you take lentinan and notice your GERD symptoms returning, let your pharmacist or doctor know before changing anything.

Laboratory research suggests that lentinan might increase the activity of cytochrome P450 3A4 (CYP3A4). So far, this interaction has not been reported in humans. However, watch for a decrease in the levels of drugs metabolized by CYP3A4 in patients taking lentinan.
Some drugs metabolized by CYP3A4 include lovastatin (Mevacor), ketoconazole (Nizoral), itraconazole (Sporanox), fexofenadine (Allegra), triazolam (Halcion), and numerous others.

Here's the gist for rabeprazole (Aciphex): your body partly clears this acid-reducer using a liver enzyme called CYP3A4. Lab research hints that lentinan, a shiitake mushroom beta-glucan, may speed that enzyme up a bit. In theory, a faster enzyme could clear rabeprazole a little quicker, leaving slightly less in your system. If that happened, your acid control might slip, so you could notice heartburn or reflux symptoms creeping back.

I want to keep this in perspective. This is only seen in test-tube and animal studies, never reported in real people, so it's a weak, theoretical concern. Don't change anything on your own. If you'd like to add lentinan, just run it by your pharmacist or doctor first.

About Rabeprazole

What Is Rabeprazole Used For?

Brand names: Aciphex, Aciphex Sprinkle

Rabeprazole delayed-release tablets treat a range of acid-related conditions in adults, including healing and maintenance of erosive or ulcerative GERD (gastroesophageal reflux disease), symptomatic GERD, duodenal ulcers, and pathological hypersecretory conditions such as Zollinger-Ellison syndrome. They are also used alongside antibiotics (amoxicillin and clarithromycin) to eradicate H. pylori bacteria and reduce the risk of duodenal ulcer coming back.

In adolescents 12 years and older, rabeprazole delayed-release tablets are approved for short-term treatment of symptomatic GERD. Both AcipHex and Rabeprazole Sodium delayed-release tablets share this indication set for adults and adolescents 12 and older.
