Alogliptin falls under ANTIDIABETES DRUGS — the group Rauvolfia Vomitoria interacts with.

Theoretically, taking Rauvolfia vomitoria with antidiabetes drugs might increase the risk of hypoglycemia.
Preliminary clinical research shows that drinking a beverage containing Rauvolfia vomitoria foliage and bitter orange fruit lowers blood glucose levels. Hypoglycemic effects of Rauvolfia vomitoria have also been demonstrated in an animal diabetic model.

Here's the thing to keep an eye on if you're using Rauvolfia vomitoria alongside alogliptin (Nesina). Alogliptin already works to bring your blood sugar down by boosting your body's own insulin response. Some early research and animal studies suggest this plant may also nudge blood sugar lower. Stack the two together and there's a theoretical chance your numbers could dip too far, which is called hypoglycemia.

If that happens, you might feel shaky, sweaty, lightheaded, irritable, or get a sudden hunger or pounding heart. To be clear, this is based on limited evidence, not strong proof, so I don't want to alarm you. But since the plant is potent and affects more than just blood sugar, please check in with your pharmacist or doctor before combining them, and keep an eye on your glucose readings.
