Rauvolfia vomitoria contains a very small amount of the drug reserpine. Reserpine can reduce both systolic and diastolic blood pressure.

Your Inderide combo pairs two blood pressure lowerers: hydrochlorothiazide (a water pill) and propranolol (a beta blocker that slows the heart and relaxes the pressure in your vessels). Rauvolfia vomitoria contains reserpine, which is itself an old blood pressure medicine. So you would essentially be stacking three things that all push your blood pressure in the same downward direction.

The concern here is that your pressure could drop too far. That can leave you feeling dizzy, lightheaded, faint, or unusually tired, especially when standing up quickly. Reserpine can also lower mood, and combined with propranolol that's worth watching. This is a theoretical, pharmacology-based caution, but it's a sensible one. Hydrochlorothiazide, Propranolol also falls under CYTOCHROME P450 2D6 (CYP2D6) SUBSTRATES.

Theoretically, Rauvolfia vomitoria might increase the levels and clinical effects of CYP2D6 substrates.
Rauvolfia vomitoria contains small amounts of the drug yohimbine. In vitro research shows that yohimbine inhibits CYP2D6 enzyme activity.

Inderide combines two blood pressure medicines. The propranolol part is partly broken down by a liver enzyme called CYP2D6. Rauvolfia vomitoria contains a little yohimbine, and in lab studies that compound can slow CYP2D6 down. In theory, that could let propranolol build up a bit more than usual, nudging its effects up. With propranolol that can mean a slower heart rate, lower blood pressure, dizziness, lightheadedness, or feeling unusually tired.

There's an added wrinkle: rauvolfia's main alkaloid, reserpine, already lowers blood pressure on its own, so stacking these could push your readings too low. Honestly though, this enzyme concern is based only on lab data, not human studies. Still, given both can drop blood pressure, please check with your pharmacist or doctor before combining them.
