Green Coffee and Aspirin, Caffeine, Hydrocodone

These two interact in 2 distinct ways. Each one is explained separately below.

Why Are There 2 Interactions?

Green Coffee interacts with whole categories of medication. Aspirin, Caffeine, Hydrocodone falls into 2 of those categories, so it can interact with Green Coffee in 2 different ways. We’ve listed each one below — your overall risk is driven by the most serious of them (Moderate).

Moderate

ANTICOAGULANT/ANTIPLATELET DRUGS

1 of 2

Why this applies to Aspirin, Caffeine, Hydrocodone

Aspirin, Caffeine, Hydrocodone falls under ANTICOAGULANT/ANTIPLATELET DRUGS — the group Green Coffee interacts with.

Theoretically, green coffee may increase the risk of bleeding if used with anticoagulant or antiplatelet drugs.
Green coffee can contain caffeine. Caffeine is reported to have antiplatelet activity. Theoretically, caffeine in green coffee might increase the risk of bleeding when used concomitantly with these agents. However, this interaction has not been reported in humans. There is some evidence that caffeinated coffee might increase the fibrinolytic activity in blood.
Severity Moderate Likelihood Unlikely Evidence D

Interaction has been demonstrated in animal or in lab research but has been shown not to occur in humans..

Dr. Brian Staiger explains PharmD, Clinical Pharmacist

Here's the deal with pairing green coffee and your Damason-P (which combines aspirin, caffeine, and hydrocodone). The aspirin in this combo already thins the blood a little by keeping platelets from clumping. Green coffee contains caffeine, and lab reports suggest caffeine may have a mild blood-thinning effect of its own. So in theory, taking both could nudge your bleeding risk up a touch.

I want to be honest though: this is a theoretical concern based on how things work in the lab, not something that's actually been seen happening in people. It's also worth noting your product already contains caffeine. If you ever notice easy bruising, nosebleeds, or bleeding gums, mention it to your pharmacist or doctor before changing anything.

STIMULANT DRUGS

2 of 2

Aspirin, Caffeine, Hydrocodone also falls under STIMULANT DRUGS.

Theoretically, concomitant use might increase stimulant adverse effects.
Green coffee can contain caffeine. Due to the central nervous system (CNS) stimulant effects of caffeine, concomitant use with stimulant drugs can increase the risk of adverse effects.
Severity Moderate Likelihood Probable Evidence C

Interaction has not been documented in well-controlled studies, however, the interaction has been demonstrated in some small human studies or in controlled animal studies in conjunction with multiple case reports..

Dr. Brian Staiger, PharmD, BCPS
Dr. Brian Staiger explains PharmD, Clinical Pharmacist

Here's the simple version: your medication (Damason-P) already contains caffeine built right into it. Green coffee brings its own caffeine to the table too. So when you take both, you're really just stacking caffeine on top of caffeine. That can leave you feeling jittery, restless, or anxious, with a racing heart, trouble sleeping, or an upset stomach.

This is more of a theoretical, common-sense caution than something proven in strong studies, so don't panic. The hydrocodone and aspirin parts of your pill aren't really the concern here, it's the doubled-up stimulant effect. If you're sensitive to caffeine or notice your heart pounding, mention it to your pharmacist or doctor before pairing the two.

About Green Coffee

What is Green Coffee?

Green Coffee
  • Weight loss
  • High blood pressure
  • Blood sugar control
  • Antioxidant support
  • General energy

Green coffee is the unroasted bean of the coffee plant, prized for its high chlorogenic acid content. Some early studies suggest modest benefits for weight, blood pressure, and blood sugar, but the evidence is limited and far from conclusive. It contains caffeine, so people sensitive to stimulants should use caution and check with a pharmacist or doctor first.
