Ketoprofen falls under ANTICOAGULANT/ANTIPLATELET DRUGS — the group Guarana interacts with.

Theoretically, guarana may increase the risk of bleeding if used with anticoagulant or antiplatelet drugs.
In vitro and animal research suggests that guarana extract can inhibit platelet aggregation. This effect may be due to the caffeine in guarana, which is also reported to have antiplatelet activity. This interaction has not been reported in humans.

Here's the situation with guarana and ketoprofen. Ketoprofen is an NSAID, and one of its built-in effects is that it makes your platelets a little less sticky, which already nudges up the chance of bleeding (think easy bruising, stomach upset, or in stronger cases an ulcer or GI bleed). Guarana is basically concentrated caffeine, and in lab and animal studies that caffeine seemed to make platelets less likely to clump too.

So the theory is that stacking the two could add to each other and raise bleeding risk a bit. I want to be honest though: this has not actually been shown in people, and the evidence is just test-tube and animal data. An occasional energy drink is unlikely to be a big deal, but daily concentrated guarana pills are a different story. If you bruise easily, see dark stools, or take blood thinners too, check in with your pharmacist or doctor first.

What Is Ketoprofen Used For?

Brand names: Orudis, Oruvail Gel, Powergel, Oruvail Injection

Ketoprofen capsules (including the brand Orudis) are used to manage the signs and symptoms of rheumatoid arthritis and osteoarthritis, to treat pain, and to treat primary dysmenorrhea (painful menstrual periods).

Ketoprofen extended-release capsules are approved for rheumatoid arthritis and osteoarthritis only. Because of the way they slowly release the drug, ketoprofen extended-release capsules are not recommended for treating acute (sudden) pain.
