Guarana has a minor interaction with Clinafloxacin. Theoretically, quinolone antibiotics might increase the levels and adverse effects of caffeine.

Here is the interaction we found between these two, with the evidence behind it.
QUINOLONE ANTIBIOTICS
Why this applies to Clinafloxacin
Clinafloxacin falls under QUINOLONE ANTIBIOTICS — the group Guarana interacts with.
Guarana contains caffeine. Theoretically, concomitant use might increase serum caffeine concentrations and the risk of adverse effects. Quinolones (also called fluoroquinolones) can decrease caffeine clearance by inhibiting the cytochrome P450 1A2 enzyme.
Interaction has been documented in animal or in lab research, or the interaction has been documented in humans but is limited to case reports or conflicting clinical research exists.
Here's the thing to know if you're taking Clinafloxacin (a fluoroquinolone antibiotic) and reaching for guarana: this isn't about the antibiotic itself getting stronger or weaker. It's the other way around. Clinafloxacin can slow down the liver enzyme (CYP1A2) that normally clears caffeine out of your system. Since guarana is basically packed caffeine, that caffeine can hang around longer and pile up.
In plain terms, you may feel more of the usual caffeine effects: jitteriness, a racing heart, trouble sleeping, anxiety, or an upset stomach. The good news is this is rated minor and is largely theoretical. A normal cup of coffee probably won't be a big deal, but concentrated guarana energy products could push you over. If you notice you're wired or your heart is pounding, ease up and check with your pharmacist or doctor.

From our pharmacist’s overview on the Clinafloxacin page
“If you have been prescribed clinafloxacin, a quinolone antibiotic, start with the four interactions rated major, because they all do the same thing: apple, grapefruit, and orange juice, along with activated charcoal, can sharply cut how much of the drug you absorb, and an antibiotic that never reaches your bloodstream cannot clear the…”

About Guarana
What is Guarana?
- Energy and alertness
- Reducing fatigue
- Weight loss support
- Athletic performance
- Mental focus
Guarana is an Amazonian seed that is naturally high in caffeine, which explains most of its stimulant and energy effects. While it may give a short-term boost in alertness and reduce fatigue, strong evidence for weight loss or major performance gains is limited, and it carries the same risks as too much caffeine. Talk to your pharmacist or doctor before using it, especially if you have heart problems, anxiety, or are pregnant.
