Treprostinil (IV) falls under ANTICOAGULANT/ANTIPLATELET DRUGS — the group Hemp interacts with.

Theoretically, hemp seed might increase the risk of bleeding when used concomitantly with anticoagulant/antiplatelet drugs.
In animal research, hemp seed at 5% of the diet inhibits platelet aggregation in vitro. However, in human research, taking hemp seed oil 2 grams daily for 12 weeks does not inhibit the aggregation of platelets in vitro.

Here's the gist with hemp and your IV treprostinil (Remodulin). Treprostinil itself isn't an anticoagulant, but it's a prostacyclin medicine that relaxes blood vessels and naturally tends to make platelets a little less sticky. So it already carries some bleeding tendency on its own. Hemp got grouped here because, in a lab and animal setting, hemp seed seemed to lower platelet clumping too. Stacking those effects could, in theory, raise your bleeding risk a touch.

That said, the human data is reassuring. People taking hemp seed oil 2 grams daily for 12 weeks showed no real effect on platelets. The evidence is weak and mostly theoretical, so food amounts of hemp seeds aren't something I'd lose sleep over. Still, watch for easy bruising, nosebleeds, or bleeding gums, and check with your doctor before starting concentrated hemp supplements.

What Is Treprostinil Injection Used For?

Brand name: Remodulin

Treprostinil injection is used to treat pulmonary arterial hypertension (PAH, WHO Group 1) — high blood pressure in the arteries that supply the lungs. It works to reduce the symptoms that make exercise difficult. Clinical studies included patients with moderate-to-severe PAH symptoms (NYHA Class II–IV) due to idiopathic or heritable PAH, PAH related to congenital heart defects, and PAH related to connective tissue diseases.

It is also used for PAH patients who need to transition off epoprostenol — a related medication — to slow the worsening of their condition during that switch. The risks and benefits of the transition should be carefully discussed with a specialist before starting.
