Here's the simple version: both pindolol and Rauvolfia vomitoria push your blood pressure in the same direction, which is down. Pindolol is a beta blocker that relaxes your vessels and slows your heart, while this root contains a small amount of reserpine, a compound that also lowers blood pressure. Stacking the two could lower your numbers more than you intend.

If that happened, you might feel dizzy or lightheaded, especially when standing up, plus tiredness or a very slow pulse. Honestly, this concern is theoretical and based on how the two work, not on hard studies, so don't panic. Still, since this plant is potent and not casual, please check with your pharmacist or doctor before combining them.

Theoretically, Rauvolfia vomitoria might increase the levels and clinical effects of CYP2D6 substrates.
Rauvolfia vomitoria contains small amounts of the drug yohimbine. In vitro research shows that yohimbine inhibits CYP2D6 enzyme activity.

Here's the gist for pindolol: your body partly clears it using a liver enzyme called CYP2D6. Rauvolfia vomitoria contains a small amount of yohimbine, and in lab (test tube) studies yohimbine can slow that enzyme down. If that happened in a person, pindolol could build up a bit and act more strongly than expected.

Pindolol is a beta blocker, so more of it could mean a slower heart rate, lower blood pressure, dizziness, or feeling unusually tired. Keep in mind this is only a theoretical concern based on lab data, not real-world cases, so it may not amount to much. Still, this plant strongly affects blood pressure on its own, so please check with your pharmacist or doctor before combining the two.
