Here's the gist: Ramelteon (Rozerem) is a gentle sleep aid that nudges your melatonin system to help you nod off. Rauvolfia vomitoria contains reserpine and related compounds that, in animal studies, appear to have a calming or sedating effect of their own. Put the two together and you could, in theory, feel more drowsy than either one alone would cause.

I want to be honest about the evidence here. This is a theoretical concern based on how these substances behave, not from real cases in people, so I wouldn't lose sleep over it. Still, watch for extra grogginess, dizziness, or feeling foggy the next morning. Since Rauvolfia is a potent plant that also lowers blood pressure, please loop in your doctor or pharmacist before pairing it with Ramelteon.
