Fenfluamine falls under CYTOCHROME P450 1A2 (CYP1A2) SUBSTRATES — the group Yohimbe interacts with.

Theoretically, yohimbe might decrease the levels and clinical effects of CYP1A2 substrates.
In vitro research shows that yohimbe extract induces CYP1A2 enzymes.

Here's the basic idea: lab research suggests yohimbe might speed up a liver enzyme called CYP1A2, which is one of the pathways that helps clear fenfluramine (Fintepla) from your body. If that enzyme runs faster, your body could break fenfluramine down a little quicker, which in theory might lower its levels and make it less effective at controlling seizures.

I want to be honest about how soft this is. This warning comes only from test-tube research, not from real people taking these two together, so we genuinely don't know if it matters in everyday life. Still, because fenfluramine is keeping serious seizures in check, anything that could weaken it deserves a conversation. Yohimbe also raises blood pressure and heart rate on its own, so please check with your doctor or pharmacist before combining them.

Yohimbe is a West African tree bark that contains yohimbine, a compound mainly promoted for erectile dysfunction and as an aphrodisiac. A prescription form of yohimbine has some evidence for erectile dysfunction, but over-the-counter yohimbe supplements vary widely in content and can cause serious side effects like high blood pressure and fast heart rate. Because of these safety concerns, talk to your pharmacist or doctor before using it.

What Is Fenfluramine Used For?

Brand name: Fintepla

Fintepla (fenfluramine oral solution) is approved to treat seizures associated with Dravet syndrome (DS) and Lennox-Gastaut syndrome (LGS) in patients 2 years of age and older. It is used alongside other antiseizure medications.

Both conditions are severe, often hard-to-control forms of epilepsy that typically begin in childhood. Fintepla is available only through a restricted program called the Fintepla REMS because of serious heart-related risks.
