Ribociclib Succinate falls under CYTOCHROME P450 3A4 (CYP3A4) INHIBITORS — the group Yohimbe interacts with.

Theoretically, CYP3A4 inhibitors might increase the levels and adverse effects of yohimbine, a constituent of yohimbe bark.
In vitro and clinical research shows that the yohimbe bark constituent, yohimbine, is metabolized by CYP3A4 enzymes. Theoretically, drugs that inhibit CYP3A4 might increase the levels and adverse effects of yohimbine.

Here's the key thing to know: ribociclib (Kisqali) blocks the CYP3A4 enzyme, and that same enzyme is what your body uses to break down yohimbine, the active compound in yohimbe. So if you take them together, the yohimbine can build up because it isn't being cleared as quickly. That means you may feel its side effects more strongly, things like a racing heartbeat, jittery or anxious feelings, and spikes in blood pressure.

This concern is theoretical and based on how the two work in lab studies, not on real-world reports, so I don't want to alarm you. Still, yohimbe can be risky on its own, and ribociclib can already affect your heart rhythm. Please check with your pharmacist or oncologist before combining them.

Here's the basic idea: your body clears ribociclib (Kisqali) using a liver enzyme called CYP3A4. Lab studies hint that yohimbe may speed that enzyme up. If that happened in real life, your body could break down ribociclib a little faster, which could lower its levels and possibly make your cancer treatment less effective. That's the last thing you want with a medication this important.

I want to be honest about the strength of this, though. This concern comes only from test-tube research, not from people, so it's theoretical. Even so, ribociclib is a serious medicine, and yohimbe carries its own risks like raising blood pressure and heart rate. Please don't start yohimbe without checking with your oncologist or pharmacist first.

Yohimbe is a West African tree bark that contains yohimbine, a compound mainly promoted for erectile dysfunction and as an aphrodisiac. A prescription form of yohimbine has some evidence for erectile dysfunction, but over-the-counter yohimbe supplements vary widely in content and can cause serious side effects like high blood pressure and fast heart rate. Because of these safety concerns, talk to your pharmacist or doctor before using it.

What Is Ribociclib Used For?

Brand name: Kisqali

Kisqali is used to treat adults with hormone receptor (HR)-positive, HER2-negative breast cancer. For early breast cancer (stage II or III, at high risk of recurrence), Kisqali is used together with an aromatase inhibitor as adjuvant treatment — meaning it's given after initial treatment to help reduce the chance the cancer comes back.

For advanced or metastatic breast cancer (cancer that has spread), Kisqali is used in combination with either an aromatase inhibitor or fulvestrant — either as the first hormone-based treatment or after the cancer has progressed on another hormone therapy.
