What is this page for?
First and foremost: checking Super Artemisinin against your medications. The heart of this page is the interaction checker and the full interaction report — how this product’s ingredients may interact with prescription and over-the-counter medicines you may be taking.
Around that, we add a pharmacist’s high-level view of the product as a whole — what’s inside, the evidence for its stated use, how transparent the label is, and what safety data exists — so you can see the full picture in one place. HelloPharmacist Scorecard of Super Artemisinin by NutriCology
Our pharmacy team’s full take, with four database checks built into the cards below — a summary of what is known, not a grade of the product itself.
What’s inside
Full disclosure
Super Artemisinin contains 2 active ingredients: artemisinin and Sweet Wormwood (leaf) Oil. Sweet Wormwood is traditionally used for fever and parasites; artemisinin is one of its key plant compounds.
The capsule also contains inactive ingredients — hydroxypropyl methylcellulose, microcrystalline cellulose, and Nu-MAG — which are binders and fillers.
Does it work?
Moderate evidence
Sweet Wormwood has possibly effective evidence for allergic rhinitis (hay fever), meaning some research supports it but more is needed to be sure. For nonalcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD), osteoarthritis, and malaria, the evidence isn't established in our data — we don't have enough reliable information to rate how well it works for those uses.
How safe is it?
Well-documented data
Sweet Wormwood is generally well tolerated when taken by mouth, though nausea and vomiting are the most common side effects. Rarely, it can cause liver damage (hepatotoxicity) — one case reported hepatitis after taking artemisinin 200 mg three times daily for 10 days, with symptoms that resolved after stopping.
A mild allergic reaction with rash and cough has also been reported. The product is meant for short-term use only, and quality and dose vary widely, so it should not replace proven treatments.
Do not take this during pregnancy — the safety data advises against it because of possible harm to a developing baby. While breastfeeding, there isn't enough safety information, so avoid it unless you've talked with your doctor or pharmacist.
Meds to double-check
Moderate interaction found
Before you take Super Artemisimin, double-check any drugs your liver breaks down — especially heart and cholesterol medications (CYP3A4 and CYP2B6 substrates) and anything that's hard on the liver itself. The research is mixed on whether this product speeds up or slows down those enzymes, so your pharmacist needs to see your full medication list.
The bottom line
Scorecard at a glanceFully disclosed formula with some supporting evidence for its stated purpose. Moderate medication interactions have been identified, and safety information is well characterized.
If you have allergic rhinitis and want to try herbal options, Sweet Wormwood has some evidence behind it. But this product interacts with a lot of medications through liver enzymes and can stress the liver itself, so check your exact drugs with our tool first.
Talk to your pharmacist before starting, especially if you take anything for heart rhythm, cholesterol, or other chronic conditions.

Super Artemisinin by NutriCology Drug Interactions
HelloPharmacist Interaction Report
Super Artemisinin by NutriCology contains two ingredients, and we have interaction data for one of them.
Sweet Wormwood (leaf) Oil can interact with drugs your liver processes, and the concern is serious enough that we need to flag it.
Read the full breakdown — every affected drug type, severity by severity
Sweet Wormwood may interfere with medications broken down by liver enzymes called CYP3A4 and CYP2B6 (Moderate severity for both). The research is mixed — artemisinin, one component of Sweet Wormwood, appears to speed up these enzymes in lab studies, but the whole plant extract seems to slow them down instead.
This means the product could either raise or lower the levels of certain drugs in your blood, changing how well they work. Additionally, Sweet Wormwood can be hard on the liver itself, and combining it with other drugs that stress the liver (Moderate severity) raises that risk further.
Artemisinin, the other active ingredient, has not been checked — we hold no interaction data for it.
Altogether, these interactions span 870 individual medications. Use the medication checker on this page with your exact drugs before you start.

Artemisinin
Cytochrome P450 2B6 (Cyp2B6) Substrates
Sweet Annie may alter plasma levels and clinical effects of drugs metabolized by CYP2B6.
In vitro research shows that the Sweet Annie constituent artemisinin induces CYP2B6, possibly increasing CYP2B6 activity by 1.6-fold. However, Sweet Annie extract seems to inhibit the activity of CYP2B6 in vitro, suggesting that other constituents of Sweet Annie play a role in its effects on the overall activity of this enzyme. More information is needed to determine whether taking Sweet Annie extract affects the metabolism of CYP2B6 substrates.
Cytochrome P450 3A4 (Cyp3A4) Substrates
Sweet Annie may alter plasma levels and clinical effects of drugs metabolized by CYP3A4.
In vitro research shows that the Sweet Annie constituent artemisinin induces CYP3A4, possibly increasing CYP3A4 activity by 1.9-fold. However, Sweet Annie extract seems to inhibit the activity of CYP3A4 in vitro, suggesting that other constituents of Sweet Annie play a role in its effects on the overall activity of this enzyme. More information is needed to determine whether taking Sweet Annie extract affects the metabolism of CYP3A4 substrates.
Hepatotoxic Drugs
Theoretically, concomitant use might have additive adverse hepatotoxic effects.
There is some concern that Sweet Annie can adversely affect the liver.
