Here's the simple version: your Daytrana patch is already a stimulant, and cola nut brings its own stimulant punch through the caffeine it contains. Stacking two stimulants together doesn't make one stronger by changing how it's broken down. Instead, their effects just pile on top of each other.

What that can look like in real life is a faster or pounding heartbeat, higher blood pressure, jitteriness, trouble sleeping, anxiety, or a loss of appetite. Keep in mind this caution is mostly based on expert opinion, not hard studies, so it's a sensible heads-up rather than a red alert. A regular soda or one small caffeinated drink usually isn't a big deal, but concentrated cola nut supplements are worth running by your pharmacist or doctor first.

Methylphenidate Transdermal System — available as Daytrana and Methylphenidate Transdermal System — is approved to treat Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) in pediatric patients ages 6 to 17 years.

It is not recommended for children under 6, because younger patients had higher drug exposure in the body and a higher rate of side effects such as weight loss compared to older children at the same dose.
