Omeprazole falls under CYTOCHROME P450 2C19 (CYP2C19) SUBSTRATES — the group Lentinan interacts with.

Laboratory research suggests that lentinan might increase the activity of cytochrome P450 2C19 (CYP2C19). So far, this interaction has not been reported in humans. However, watch for a decrease in the levels of drugs metabolized by CYP2C19 in patients taking lentinan.
Some drugs metabolized by CYP2C19 include proton pump inhibitors including omeprazole (Prilosec), lansoprazole (Prevacid), and pantoprazole (Protonix); diazepam (Valium); carisoprodol (Soma); nelfinavir (Viracept); and others.

Here's the gist with omeprazole and lentinan. Your body relies on a liver enzyme called CYP2C19 to break omeprazole down. Lab and animal research hints that lentinan may rev up that enzyme, meaning your system could clear omeprazole a little faster than usual. If that happens, you might get less acid-blocking power, so heartburn, reflux, or that sour, burning feeling could creep back in.

The good news: this has only been seen in test tube and animal studies, never reported in real people, so I wouldn't lose sleep over it. Still, if you start a lentinan supplement and notice your reflux acting up, mention it to your pharmacist or doctor before changing anything.

Laboratory research suggests that lentinan might increase the activity of cytochrome P450 3A4 (CYP3A4). So far, this interaction has not been reported in humans. However, watch for a decrease in the levels of drugs metabolized by CYP3A4 in patients taking lentinan.
Some drugs metabolized by CYP3A4 include lovastatin (Mevacor), ketoconazole (Nizoral), itraconazole (Sporanox), fexofenadine (Allegra), triazolam (Halcion), and numerous others.

Here's the gist for omeprazole. Lab studies hint that lentinan might speed up an enzyme called CYP3A4, which is one of the pathways your body uses to break down omeprazole. If that enzyme works faster, your body could clear omeprazole a little quicker, which in theory might make it slightly less effective at calming stomach acid. That could mean breakthrough heartburn or reflux symptoms creeping back.

I want to be honest about how soft this is, though. This is only test-tube and animal data, and it has never actually been seen in people. Omeprazole is mostly handled by a different enzyme (CYP2C19), so the real-world impact here is likely small. Still, if you take both and notice your reflux returning, mention it to your pharmacist or doctor rather than changing anything on your own.

Here's the gist of what we know about pairing shiitake-derived lentinan with omeprazole. Your body clears omeprazole largely through a liver enzyme called CYP2C19. In animal studies, lentinan seemed to speed that enzyme up (we call this induction), which lowered omeprazole blood levels. Omeprazole is the active drug itself, not a prodrug, so faster clearance means less of it sticking around to do its job.

In plain terms, that could mean your acid-blocker works a little less well, so heartburn or reflux symptoms might creep back. But honestly, this is based only on lab and animal research, not people, so it's far from proven. I wouldn't lose sleep over it. If you're considering lentinan, just loop in your pharmacist or doctor first.

About Omeprazole

What Is Omeprazole Used For?

Brand names: Prilosec, Zegerid, Losec

Omeprazole is used to treat a range of conditions where stomach acid causes problems. These include heartburn and acid reflux (GERD), erosive esophagitis (damage to the esophagus from acid), and stomach or duodenal ulcers. It can also be used alongside antibiotics to help get rid of an H. pylori infection — a bacteria that causes ulcers.

In more serious cases, omeprazole is used to manage conditions where the stomach produces far too much acid, such as pathologic hypersecretory conditions (rare medical disorders that cause extreme acid overproduction). It is approved for adults and children one year of age and older for GERD and erosive esophagitis.
