These two interact in 2 distinct ways. Each one is explained separately below.
Why Are There 2 Interactions?
Yohimbe interacts with whole categories of medication. Amphetamine Aspartate, Amphetamine Sulfate, Dextroamphetamine Saccharate, Dextroamphetamine Sulfate falls into 2 of those categories, so it can interact with Yohimbe in 2 different ways. We’ve listed each one below — your overall risk is driven by the most serious of them (Moderate).
CYTOCHROME P450 2D6 (CYP2D6) SUBSTRATES
1 of 2Why this applies to Amphetamine Aspartate, Amphetamine Sulfate, Dextroamphetamine Saccharate, Dextroamphetamine Sulfate
Amphetamine Aspartate, Amphetamine Sulfate, Dextroamphetamine Saccharate, Dextroamphetamine Sulfate falls under CYTOCHROME P450 2D6 (CYP2D6) SUBSTRATES — the group Yohimbe interacts with.
In vitro research suggests that yohimbine, a constituent of yohimbe bark, inhibits CYP2D6 enzyme activity.
Interaction has been documented in animal or in lab research, or the interaction has been documented in humans but is limited to case reports or conflicting clinical research exists.
Here's the bigger picture with yohimbe and your Adderall. In lab studies, yohimbine (the active part of yohimbe) appears to slow down a liver enzyme called CYP2D6, which is one of the pathways your body uses to clear amphetamines. If that pathway gets blocked, the amphetamine could linger longer and hit harder than expected.
The thing that really concerns me is that both of these are stimulants on their own. Yohimbe itself can push up your blood pressure and heart rate, and so can Adderall. Stacking them could mean a racing or pounding heart, jitteriness, anxiety, trouble sleeping, or a spike in blood pressure. This warning is based on lab data only, not real patients, so it's theoretical. Still, given the stimulant overlap, please run this combo by your pharmacist or doctor first.

STIMULANT DRUGS
2 of 2Amphetamine Aspartate, Amphetamine Sulfate, Dextroamphetamine Saccharate, Dextroamphetamine Sulfate also falls under STIMULANT DRUGS.
Yohimbine, a constituent of yohimbe, has sympathomimetic effects and increases blood pressure in a dose-dependent manner. Theoretically, taking yohimbe with stimulant drugs can have additive stimulant and hypertensive effects.
Interaction has been documented in animal or in lab research, or the interaction has been documented in humans but is limited to case reports or conflicting clinical research exists.
Here's the thing to keep in mind if you take Adderall and are thinking about yohimbe: both of them rev up the same part of your nervous system, the so-called "fight or flight" side. Adderall is a stimulant that already raises your heart rate and blood pressure, and yohimbe (through its active compound, yohimbine) does something similar. Stacking them could push those effects higher than either one alone.
In real life that might mean a pounding or racing heart, jitteriness, anxiety, trouble sleeping, or a spike in blood pressure. I'll be honest, this concern is based on how these substances work rather than hard studies, so it's theoretical. Still, since both nudge the same direction, I'd run it by your pharmacist or doctor before combining them, especially if you have any heart or blood pressure history.

About Yohimbe
What is Yohimbe?
- Erectile dysfunction
- Low sex drive
- Sexual performance
- Weight loss
- Athletic performance
Yohimbe is a West African tree bark that contains yohimbine, a compound mainly promoted for erectile dysfunction and as an aphrodisiac. A prescription form of yohimbine has some evidence for erectile dysfunction, but over-the-counter yohimbe supplements vary widely in content and can cause serious side effects like high blood pressure and fast heart rate. Because of these safety concerns, talk to your pharmacist or doctor before using it.
