Here's the gist with your hormone therapy (estradiol plus medroxyprogesterone). Lab studies suggest yohimbe might speed up an enzyme called CYP1A2, which helps your body process estradiol. If that enzyme works faster, estradiol could clear out a bit quicker, which in theory might slightly weaken how well your therapy controls things like hot flashes or night sweats. These are active hormones, not prodrugs, so faster breakdown means less effect, not more.

The important part: this is only a theoretical concern based on test-tube research, not real patient data, and it's rated minor. I wouldn't lose sleep over it. Still, yohimbe itself can raise blood pressure and heart rate, so please check with your pharmacist or doctor before adding it.

Your hormone combo (estradiol with medroxyprogesterone) is cleared by a liver enzyme called CYP3A4. In lab and animal studies, yohimbe appears to speed up that enzyme. If that happened in your body, your hormone levels could drop a little faster than normal, which in theory could mean slightly less benefit, such as a return of hot flashes, night sweats, or some breakthrough spotting.

Here's the honest part: this is only a theoretical concern based on test-tube research, and it's rated as minor. We don't have real human evidence that it causes problems. The bigger reason to be cautious with yohimbe is its own risks, like raising blood pressure and heart rate. Please check with your pharmacist or doctor before combining them.

Yohimbe is a West African tree bark that contains yohimbine, a compound mainly promoted for erectile dysfunction and as an aphrodisiac. A prescription form of yohimbine has some evidence for erectile dysfunction, but over-the-counter yohimbe supplements vary widely in content and can cause serious side effects like high blood pressure and fast heart rate. Because of these safety concerns, talk to your pharmacist or doctor before using it.
