Amlodipine Besylate, Benazepril falls under ANTIHYPERTENSIVE DRUGS — the group Hemp interacts with.

Theoretically, hemp seed protein may have additive effects with antihypertensive drugs.
In a hypertensive animal model, hemp seed protein hydrolysate reduced systolic blood pressure by a mechanism possibly involving the inhibition of renin and angiotensin converting enzyme (ACE) activities. However, there was no effect of hemp seed protein on blood pressure in normotensive animals. Furthermore, hempseed oil consumption does not seem to reduce blood pressure in humans.

Lotrel pairs amlodipine (a calcium channel blocker) with benazepril (an ACE inhibitor), so it lowers blood pressure two ways. The concern here is theoretical: in lab and animal studies, hemp seed protein appeared to gently block renin and ACE, the same kind of pathway benazepril works on. In theory, that could add a little extra blood-pressure lowering on top of your medicine.

The honest picture is reassuring. This is rated minor and unlikely, the evidence comes from animals, and hemp seed oil did not lower blood pressure in people. Eating hemp seeds as food is very unlikely to matter. If you take concentrated hemp protein supplements and notice dizziness, lightheadedness, or feeling unusually tired, mention it to your pharmacist or doctor.

Theoretically, consuming hemp seed protein isolate with ACE inhibitors might have additive effects and increase the risk of hypotension.
Hemp seed protein hydrolysate has shown ACE inhibitor-like effects in a hypertensive animal model. However, hempseed oil consumption does not seem to reduce blood pressure in humans. Until more is known, monitor blood pressure and potassium levels.

Here's the simple version. Lotrel combines two blood pressure medicines: amlodipine, which relaxes your blood vessels, and benazepril, an ACE inhibitor. Some lab and animal studies suggest hemp seed protein may act a little like an ACE inhibitor itself. In theory, that could nudge your blood pressure down a bit more on top of what Lotrel already does.

But be reassured: this is weak, mostly test-tube and animal evidence, and actual hemp seed oil studies in people did not lower blood pressure. Eating hemp seeds in food is very unlikely to cause trouble. If you use concentrated hemp protein, just keep an eye out for dizziness, lightheadedness, or feeling faint, and have your potassium checked occasionally. CYTOCHROME P450 3A4 (CYP3A4) SUBSTRATES

Amlodipine Besylate, Benazepril also falls under CYTOCHROME P450 3A4 (CYP3A4) SUBSTRATES.

Theoretically, hemp might decrease the levels and clinical effects of CYP3A4 substrates.
In vitro research shows that hemp induces CYP3A4 enzymes.

Here's the quick picture with hemp and Lotrel (amlodipine plus benazepril). The amlodipine part is cleared by a liver enzyme called CYP3A4. Lab studies suggest hemp might speed that enzyme up a bit, which could in theory clear amlodipine a little faster and make it work less well. That might mean slightly higher blood pressure readings than expected.

Honestly, I wouldn't lose sleep over this one. The evidence is only from test-tube and lab research, not real people, and it's rated minor. Everyday hemp seeds or hemp oil in food are very unlikely to matter. If you're using concentrated hemp supplements, just mention it to your pharmacist or doctor and keep an eye on your blood pressure.
