Hemp + Treprostinil (Inh)
Treprostinil (Inh) brand name: Tyvaso.
Treprostinil (Inh) falls into 2 drug categories that Hemp can interact with; the most serious is rated minor. Theoretically, hemp seed protein may have additive effects with antihypertensive drugs.

These two interact in 2 distinct ways. Each one is explained separately below.
Why Are There 2 Interactions?
Hemp interacts with whole categories of medication. Treprostinil (Inh) falls into 2 of those categories, so it can interact with Hemp in 2 different ways. We’ve listed each one below — your overall risk is driven by the most serious of them (Minor).
ANTIHYPERTENSIVE DRUGS
1 of 2Why this applies to Treprostinil (Inh)
Treprostinil (Inh) falls under ANTIHYPERTENSIVE DRUGS — the group Hemp interacts with.
In a hypertensive animal model, hemp seed protein hydrolysate reduced systolic blood pressure by a mechanism possibly involving the inhibition of renin and angiotensin converting enzyme (ACE) activities. However, there was no effect of hemp seed protein on blood pressure in normotensive animals. Furthermore, hempseed oil consumption does not seem to reduce blood pressure in humans.
Interaction has been demonstrated in animal or in lab research but has been shown not to occur in humans..
Here's the short version: inhaled treprostinil (Tyvaso) is a vasodilator that widens blood vessels to ease the pressure in your lungs, and it can also nudge your overall blood pressure down. The concern on file is that hemp seed protein might add a little to that blood-pressure-lowering effect. In theory, if both work in the same direction, you could feel more lightheaded, dizzy, flushed, or tired than usual.
Honestly though, this is a very weak, mostly theoretical worry. The evidence comes from animal studies, hemp only lowered pressure in animals that were already hypertensive, and hemp seed oil didn't lower blood pressure in people at all. Everyday food amounts of hemp seeds are unlikely to cause trouble. If you're using concentrated hemp supplements, just mention it to your pharmacist or doctor first.

ANTICOAGULANT/ANTIPLATELET DRUGS
2 of 2Treprostinil (Inh) also falls under ANTICOAGULANT/ANTIPLATELET DRUGS.
In animal research, hemp seed at 5% of the diet inhibits platelet aggregation in vitro. However, in human research, taking hemp seed oil 2 grams daily for 12 weeks does not inhibit the aggregation of platelets in vitro.
Interaction has been documented in animal or in lab research, or the interaction has been documented in humans but is limited to case reports or conflicting clinical research exists.
Here's the thing to know about inhaled treprostinil (Tyvaso): besides opening up the blood vessels in your lungs, it also makes your platelets a little less sticky, which can gently thin the blood. Hemp seed, in theory, might nudge in the same direction, so stacking the two could slightly raise the odds of bruising or bleeding more easily, like nosebleeds or a cut that takes longer to stop.
Now, I want to keep this in perspective. The concern comes from lab and animal work, and a human study using 2 grams of hemp seed oil daily for 12 weeks did not reduce platelet clumping. So for most folks eating hemp seeds or oil as food, this is very unlikely to be a real problem. If you notice unusual bruising or bleeding, or plan to use concentrated hemp supplements, just check with your pharmacist or doctor first.

From our pharmacist’s overview on the Treprostinil (Inh) page
“Inhaled treprostinil (Tyvaso) relaxes blood vessels in the lungs to treat pulmonary hypertension, and it also blunts platelet clotting, which is why this list of 275 ingredients warrants real vigilance rather than a shrug. Two themes cover almost everything.”

About Hemp
What is Hemp?
- Plant-based protein source
- Heart health support
- Skin and hair health
- Reducing inflammation
- General nutrition (omega fatty acids)
Hemp seeds and hemp seed oil are nutritious foods rich in protein, fiber, and healthy omega-3 and omega-6 fatty acids, and they are generally safe for most people as part of the diet. While the nutrition is real, strong human evidence that hemp supplements treat specific medical conditions is limited. Talk with your pharmacist or doctor before using hemp products for a health concern, especially if you are pregnant or breastfeeding.
About Treprostinil Oral Inhalation
What Is Treprostinil Oral Inhalation Used For?
Brand name: Tyvaso
Treprostinil oral inhalation is used to treat two serious lung conditions that raise pressure in the blood vessels of the lungs. It helps improve how much physical activity you can do.
Tyvaso inhalation solution and Tyvaso DPI are both indicated to treat pulmonary arterial hypertension (PAH; WHO Group 1) and pulmonary hypertension associated with interstitial lung disease (PH-ILD; WHO Group 3). Clinical studies establishing effectiveness in PAH primarily included patients with moderate symptoms (NYHA Class III) whose PAH was idiopathic, heritable, or related to connective tissue disease. Studies in PH-ILD primarily included patients with idiopathic interstitial pneumonia, combined pulmonary fibrosis and emphysema, or connective tissue disease-related lung disease.
