Yohimbe + Bisoprolol
Bisoprolol brand name: Zebeta.
Bisoprolol falls into 2 drug categories that Yohimbe can interact with; the most serious is rated moderate. Theoretically, yohimbe might reduce the effects of antihypertensive drugs.

These two interact in 2 distinct ways. Each one is explained separately below.
Why Are There 2 Interactions?
Yohimbe interacts with whole categories of medication. Bisoprolol falls into 2 of those categories, so it can interact with Yohimbe in 2 different ways. We’ve listed each one below — your overall risk is driven by the most serious of them (Moderate).
ANTIHYPERTENSIVE DRUGS
1 of 2Why this applies to Bisoprolol
Bisoprolol falls under ANTIHYPERTENSIVE DRUGS — the group Yohimbe interacts with.
Yohimbine, a constituent of yohimbe, is an alpha-2 adrenoceptor antagonist and has been reported to increase blood pressure in clinical research. Theoretically, concomitant use of yohimbe and antihypertensive drugs can interfere with blood pressure control.
Interaction has not been documented in well-controlled studies, however, the interaction has been demonstrated in some small human studies or in controlled animal studies in conjunction with multiple case reports..
Here's the concern with pairing yohimbe and bisoprolol. Bisoprolol is a beta blocker you're taking to keep your blood pressure and heart rate down. Yohimbe contains yohimbine, which works in roughly the opposite direction. It can raise blood pressure and speed up your heart rate, so it may push back against the very thing your bisoprolol is doing. In plain terms, yohimbe could blunt your blood pressure control and leave you with higher readings or a faster pulse.
I'll be honest that this interaction is theoretical, based on how yohimbine behaves rather than hard studies in people on bisoprolol. Still, since these two work against each other, I'd loop in your pharmacist or doctor before trying yohimbe. Please don't change your bisoprolol on your own.

CYTOCHROME P450 2D6 (CYP2D6) SUBSTRATES
2 of 2Bisoprolol also falls under CYTOCHROME P450 2D6 (CYP2D6) SUBSTRATES.
In vitro research suggests that yohimbine, a constituent of yohimbe bark, inhibits CYP2D6 enzyme activity.
Interaction has been documented in animal or in lab research, or the interaction has been documented in humans but is limited to case reports or conflicting clinical research exists.
Here's the tug-of-war worth knowing about. Bisoprolol is partly cleared by a liver enzyme called CYP2D6, and lab studies hint that yohimbine (the active part of yohimbe) can slow that enzyme down. If that happens in real life, more bisoprolol could linger in your system, nudging its blood-pressure-lowering effect stronger. That might show up as feeling lightheaded, unusually tired, or noticing a slower heartbeat.
But here's the twist: yohimbe itself tends to raise blood pressure and speed up the heart, which works directly against what bisoprolol is doing for you. So the two pull in opposite directions. Keep in mind this enzyme concern is only theoretical and based on test-tube data, not people. Still, please check with your pharmacist or doctor before combining them.

About Yohimbe
What is Yohimbe?
- Erectile dysfunction
- Low sex drive
- Sexual performance
- Weight loss
- Athletic performance
Yohimbe is a West African tree bark that contains yohimbine, a compound mainly promoted for erectile dysfunction and as an aphrodisiac. A prescription form of yohimbine has some evidence for erectile dysfunction, but over-the-counter yohimbe supplements vary widely in content and can cause serious side effects like high blood pressure and fast heart rate. Because of these safety concerns, talk to your pharmacist or doctor before using it.
About Bisoprolol
What Is Bisoprolol Used For?
Brand name: Zebeta
Bisoprolol fumarate tablets are used to manage high blood pressure (hypertension). Lowering blood pressure reduces the strain on the heart and blood vessels, helping prevent serious complications over time.
It can be used on its own or combined with other blood pressure-lowering medicines, such as thiazide diuretics. All supported products — including those labeled as Bisoprolol and Bisoprolol Fumarate — share this indication.

Bisoprolol Is Linked to Lower Levels of One Nutrient
Natural Medicines records Bisoprolol as a medicine that can lower these. This is not an interaction with Yohimbe — it is a separate effect of the medicine, and it is a reason some people are advised to supplement rather than to avoid one:
