Yohimbe + Naloxegol
Naloxegol brand name: Movantik.
Yohimbe has a minor interaction with Naloxegol. Theoretically, yohimbe might decrease the levels and clinical effects of CYP3A4 substrates.

Here is the interaction we found between these two, with the evidence behind it.
CYTOCHROME P450 3A4 (CYP3A4) SUBSTRATES
Why this applies to Naloxegol
Naloxegol falls under CYTOCHROME P450 3A4 (CYP3A4) SUBSTRATES — the group Yohimbe interacts with.
In vitro research shows that yohimbe extract induces CYP3A4 enzymes.
Interaction has been documented in animal or in lab research, or the interaction has been documented in humans but is limited to case reports or conflicting clinical research exists.
Here's the gist for Movantik (naloxegol). Your body clears this drug using a liver enzyme called CYP3A4. Lab studies (just test-tube research, not people) hint that yohimbe may speed that enzyme up. If that happened in real life, your body could break down naloxegol a little faster, which might make it work less well. In plain terms, you could see your opioid-related constipation come back or not improve as much.
I want to be honest that this is theoretical and ranks as a minor concern. The bigger worry with yohimbe is its own side effects, like a racing heart and high blood pressure. Before pairing these, please run it by your pharmacist or doctor.

From our pharmacist’s overview on the Naloxegol page
“Naloxegol (Movantik) relieves the constipation that opioids cause, and this is a list that deserves real care before you add anything from it. Nearly all of the trouble traces to a single enzyme, CYP3A4, which the body relies on to clear naloxegol.”

About Yohimbe
What is Yohimbe?
- Erectile dysfunction
- Low sex drive
- Sexual performance
- Weight loss
- Athletic performance
Yohimbe is a West African tree bark that contains yohimbine, a compound mainly promoted for erectile dysfunction and as an aphrodisiac. A prescription form of yohimbine has some evidence for erectile dysfunction, but over-the-counter yohimbe supplements vary widely in content and can cause serious side effects like high blood pressure and fast heart rate. Because of these safety concerns, talk to your pharmacist or doctor before using it.
About Naloxegol
What Is Naloxegol Used For?
Brand name: Movantik
Movantik (naloxegol) is used to treat opioid-induced constipation (OIC) — constipation caused by opioid pain medications — in adults who have chronic non-cancer pain. It is also approved for adults with chronic pain related to prior cancer or its treatment, as long as they don't need frequent (roughly weekly) increases in their opioid dose.
It is not indicated for constipation from other causes, and it is not approved for use in children.
