Here's the key thing to understand: in this pairing, it's your Myfembree (the relugolix, estradiol, and norethindrone combo) that gently slows down the CYP3A4 enzyme, and yohimbe is the one that gets caught up. Yohimbine, the active part of yohimbe bark, is cleared by that same enzyme. So if you take them together, the yohimbine may hang around longer and hit harder than expected.

That matters because yohimbe on its own can already spike your blood pressure, race your heart, and leave you jittery or anxious. Amplifying those effects isn't pleasant. I'll be honest, this is a theoretical concern based on how the body processes these compounds, not strong human studies. Still, since yohimbe is unpredictable to begin with, please run it past your pharmacist or doctor first.

Here's the gist with Myfembree (the combo of relugolix, estradiol, and norethindrone you take for fibroid or endometriosis symptoms). Lab studies hint that yohimbe may speed up an enzyme called CYP1A2, and the estradiol part of your pill is partly handled by that enzyme. In theory, that could nudge estrogen levels down a bit and slightly weaken how well the medicine controls your symptoms, like more bleeding or cramping.

That said, this is a very weak, theoretical signal from test-tube research, not from people, so I wouldn't lose sleep over it. The bigger real-world worry with yohimbe is its own punch: it can raise blood pressure and speed up your heart. Please run it by your pharmacist or doctor before adding it.

Here's the gist with Myfembree (relugolix, estradiol, and norethindrone). All three pieces are handled in part by a liver enzyme called CYP3A4. Lab studies suggest yohimbe may speed that enzyme up, which could lower the levels of these medicines in your body. In plain terms, a faster enzyme means the drug might clear out a bit quicker and work less reliably, which could mean weaker control of your endometriosis or fibroid symptoms, more breakthrough bleeding, or less dependable contraception.

I want to be honest, though: this is rated minor and is only based on test-tube research, not real patients, so it may not amount to much in practice. Since Myfembree matters for both symptom relief and birth control, just run yohimbe past your pharmacist or doctor first.

Yohimbe is a West African tree bark that contains yohimbine, a compound mainly promoted for erectile dysfunction and as an aphrodisiac. A prescription form of yohimbine has some evidence for erectile dysfunction, but over-the-counter yohimbe supplements vary widely in content and can cause serious side effects like high blood pressure and fast heart rate. Because of these safety concerns, talk to your pharmacist or doctor before using it.

What Is Relugolix, Estradiol, and Norethindrone Used For?

Brand name: Myfembree

Myfembree is approved for two conditions in premenopausal women: managing heavy menstrual bleeding caused by uterine fibroids (non-cancerous growths in the uterus), and managing moderate to severe pain caused by endometriosis (a condition where tissue similar to the uterine lining grows outside the uterus).

Treatment with Myfembree should not exceed 24 months because of the risk of ongoing bone loss that may not fully reverse after stopping the medication.
